Susanna FitzGerald QC specialises in all aspects of Licensing Law including; gambling law, e-commerce internet gambling in the UK and off-shore, Gambling Commission applications and Reviews, lotteries and prize competitions, alcohol and regulated entertainment licensing. She has been closely involved with the development of new legislation involving licensing and gambling law and is recognised by Chambers UK and Legal 500.
Recently she has appeared before the First Tier Tribunal for Greene King Brewing and Retailing Limited and Greene King Retailing Limited GA/2014/0001 where she successfully appealed the Gambling Commission’s refusal to grant them bingo operating licences. She subsequently appeared before the Upper Tier Tribunal on the Commission’s Appeal and the Court of Appeal. She also appeared in the high profile Camelot UK Lotteries Ltd v. The Gambling Commission & Ors  EWHC 2391 (Admin), successfully resisting Camelot’s application to review the Gambling Commission’s decision to license the Health Lottery. She was also heavily involved advising clients on “what constitutes Bingo” because the Gambling Commission had raised the issue and has recently been advising on e-sports.
