At university, Teck Wei was a competitive debater representing the Oxford Union Society. He was a top-3 speaker at the World Championships (2017, 2018) and won the John Smith Memorial Mace (formerly the Observer Mace), considered to be effectively the overall championship for the United Kingdom and Ireland since 1954.
 

Before commencing pupillage, Teck Wei was Chief of Staff to the CEO at a professional services technology company featured in the FT1000, the Financial Times' annual list of Europe's fastest-growing companies.
