Mr Justice Nicklin has today handed down judgment dismissing in their entirety the claims for misuse of private information and breach of confidence brought by seven claimants against Associated Newspapers Limited, the publishers of the Daily Mail and the Mail on Sunday. The claims, by Prince Harry, Baroness Doreen Lawrence, Elizabeth Hurley, Sir Elton John, David Furnish, Simon Hughes and Sadie Frost Law, were heard in a 46-day trial between 19 January and 31 March 2026.
The Court also determined that certain claims brought by Sir Simon Hughes and Sadie Frost Law were time-barred and dismissed related allegations advanced as part of the Claimants' deliberate concealment case under s32(1)(b) Limitation Act 1980 that three senior Associated executives — Paul Dacre, Elizabeth Hartley and Peter Wright — had lied in their evidence to the Leveson Inquiry.
Hannah Glover acted for Associated Newspapers Ltd, together with Antony White KC, Andrew Caldecott KC, Catrin Evans KC, Sarah Palin and Ben Gallop, instructed by Baker & McKenzie.
