With great appreciation, One Essex Court bids a fond farewell to Jackie Ginty, our First Deputy Senior Clerk, who retires from Chambers today after 38 years of exemplary service.
When Jackie joined Chambers, we could not have predicted quite how central she would become not just to the day-to-day running of Chambers, but to its character. From her work as a steady hand behind countless silk applications to someone junior clerks could turn to for advice and guidance.
For all of us, members and staff alike, Jackie has been someone we could all rely on, in good times and in the inevitable tougher ones. Expertly guiding members’ practices, always finding a balanced solution to suit clients and members alike, Jackie has remained consistently kind, generous and astute for nearly four decades.
Her contribution did not stop at the Chambers door, either. As Education Secretary of the Institute of Barristers' Clerks for many years, and then as Vice President from 2022, Jackie has helped shape the training and development of clerks across the entire profession. That's a legacy that extends well beyond One Essex Court, and from which many have benefited.
So, from all the members and staff, past and present, we thank you. For the guidance, the patience, the more than occasional and necessary word of good sense when we needed it, and for 38 years of simply being brilliant at what you do. We wish you a long, happy, and thoroughly well-earned retirement.
