One Essex Court congratulates Sonia Tolaney QC on her appointment as Chair of the Commercial Bar Association (COMBAR). The appointment is for two years. Sonia previously served as COMBAR Vice-Chair and Treasurer [2017-19] and as Secretary [2015-17]. Recognised as one of the leading silks at the Commercial Bar, Sonia’s work embraces a broad spectrum of specialist sectors including; banking and finance; company and insolvency; civil fraud; jurisdiction and sanctions; professional discipline; and insurance and reinsurance.
COMBAR is the specialist association of the English and Welsh Commercial Bar, representing 1600 individual members and 38 leading barristers’ chambers, all of whom provide specialist advice, advocacy and mediation services in relation to commercial law for businesses, individuals and other organisations. COMBAR members undertake work both nationally and internationally in a wide range of litigation, arbitration and transactional work, often being called to appear in foreign courts.
