Advocacy Skills Talk and Q&A
Thursday 15 October 2026, 5pm to 6.30pm via Teams
The Advocacy Skills Talk and Q&A event, which we have run for a number of years, features a talk on advocacy skills followed by an opportunity to ask questions of a panel of female members of Chambers about advocacy and more broadly about pupillage, applications and working at the Commercial Bar.
This session is open to anyone potentially interested in a career at the Commercial Bar, regardless of subject of study.
One Essex Court Women at the Commercial Bar: 2026 Moot

One Essex Court will host a Women at the Commercial Bar mooting competition in London on Thursday 3 December 2026. Following a hugely successful inaugural moot in 2025, we are repeating this initiative this year.
Last year’s moot, with the final judged by Lady Justice Cockerill DBE at the Royal Court’s of Justice. We warmly congratulate the winners, Katie Hoeflinger and Ingrid Schreiber, and the runners up, Niranjana Ramkumar and Zofia Gajewska.

Pupillage Interview Workshop
Thursday 11 February 2027, 5pm to 7pm via Teams
Our very popular Pupillage Interview Workshop focuses on how to prepare for and perform in pupillage interviews. This workshop will include a talk from a female barrister with tips and advice on interview skills, as well as a live, practical exercise in small groups followed by a Q&A session with a panel of female members of chambers.
This workshop is open to those applying for pupillage at the Commercial Bar in 2027 or in the near future.
We particularly welcome applications from those under-represented at the Commercial Bar, including people of minority ethnic origin, people with disabilities, LGBT+ people, and people who attended state schools or are first-generation university students.
