Tony de Garr Robinson's practice covers a broad range of commercial and chancery disciplines.  Described by Chambers UK 2010 as “a skilled advocate” and “a great client pleaser with a dynamic, can-do attitude”, he undertakes a wide variety of High Court and appellate litigation, international arbitration, offshore litigation and advisory work.  He also sits as an arbitrator. 

He has been admitted as a member of the Bar in the Bahamas and the British Virgin Islands and is registered as an advocate in the Dubai International Financial Centre Courts. 

Educated at Oxford and Harvard (where he was a Kennedy Scholar), he is regularly identified as a leading practitioner in legal surveys and the legal press.  He is recommended as a "Leader at the Bar" in no fewer than six categories in Chambers UK 2010 (Banking & Finance; Commercial Dispute Resolution; Chancery/Commercial; Company; Fraud/Civil; and Restructuring/Insolvency).

Together with Sydney Kentridge QC and Ian Geering QC, he has recently appeared in the Privy Council on an appeal from the Jersey Court of Appeal which concerned the nature and proper measure of Wrotham Park damages for breach of a confidentiality agreement (i.e. damages awarded on negotiation/ licence fee basis).  http://www.bailii.org/uk/cases/UKPC/2009/45.html.

Catalyst Investment Group Ltd v Lewinsohn [2009] EWHC 1964 (Ch); [2009] WLR (D) 281 (Barling J)

He successfully opposed an application to stay proceedings on grounds of lis alibi pendens and forum non conveniens, on the basis that, under the European Jurisdiction and Judgments Regulation, the Court has no power to decline jurisdiction where the defendant is an English domiciliary.  This case decides a point that was left open by the European Court of Justice in Owusu v Jackson.  http://www.bailii.org/ew/cases/EWHC/Ch/2009/1964.html.
